What is Chiropractic?
It is a fact that as we age the amount of stress in our lives increases. Without the proper avenues for release, stress can accumulate and compromise the healthy functioning of our bodies and our minds. When any combination of different forms of stress ranging from emotional and physical to also chemical/nutritional become too much for our bodies to handle, the small bones of the spine will become subluxated (misaligned). Because the nerves that connect the brain to the body travel through small openings in the spine called foramen, a subluxation will cause a "handicap" in your brain's ability to communicate with and control the rest of your body including it's organs and glands. This results in pain or other symptoms.
What makes Chiropractic adjustments so important is that they restore brain-body communication so that you can function and thrive at your optimum potential despite the rigorous demands of our high-stress society. In addition to obvious mental and physical stress add a diet of processed food, refined sugar and carbohydrates, hydrogenated fats and oils, OTC and prescription drugs, toxicities from the environment as well as the growing number of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria and much more! Getting an adjustment is like hitting the reset button on your computer. At the very least everyone should get periodic adjustments to maintain some level of better health.
What is an Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a very safe, specific, controlled force in a precise direction to restore proper motion to the joints of the spine (neck, back) and extremities (shoulders, wrists, elbows, ankles, hips, etc.). For more information about adjustments, please click here.
Dr. Castaldi uses Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) to check his patient’s spine for any vertebral subluxations which is more specific and individualized than a standard chiropractic examination. If subluxations or other abnormalities are detected, he will apply a gentle force in a corrective manner to the affected spinal area using his hands or an arthrostim (a non-force adjusting tool).
